What is the SP sensor and why does that fuse aka alternator fuse keep blowing?

Its on a honda civic, the fuse labeled alternator/sp sensor keeps blowing. Alternator was bad and new put on.

What is the SP sensor and why does that fuse aka alternator fuse keep blowing?
there is a short to ground. have you checked the battery?
Reply:That 7.5 amp fuse is shared with the alternator including the various sensors:

Vehicle Speed Sensor (SP may be short for speed)

HO2S

EVAP two way valve/EVAP control canister vent shut valve

There is a short in one of these components.

Is your alternator functioning properly? Does it produce 13.5 - 15.1 volts at the battery terminals when you rev it up to 2500 RPM? If not, double check that the wiring harness and the white ground wire is securely connected.

Was the alternator removed from the top or the bottom? If it was removed from the top, some wires may have been disconnected to ensure enough room for space was made. Make sure all those wire harness are secured and reconnected. Inspect all of the components above for any short/loose wiring.

Good luck!
