What do dentist do about a biolateral (sp) pop in your jaw?

I jus found out that i have a biolateral pop in my jaw, well my dentist told me and they said they where gonna try and fix it. So i guess my real question is...how do they fix it or what do they do to fix it?

I usually start with placing my patients in a occulsal guard. But many other questions must be asked? Does it hurt? Does it hurt more in the morning or at night? Have you ever been stuck open? Etc....
