Where is mycobacterium sp found or where does it live? does it cause disease?why is it important in society?
mycobacterium causes tuberculosis and Hansen's disease (Leprosy). Humans are its natural resevior, so they can be found in people, different species of mycobacterium have been found in cows too, which caused an outbreak a while back which was traced to milk.





It's pretty important in society because it is an acid fast bacteria with an exceptionally thick cell wall containing mycolic acid, thus it cant be treated with traditional antibiotics. It must be treated with a combination of drugs.
