What is the point of the Boeing 747 SP?

The Boeing 747 SP was a lot lighter than the orignal 747 and was able to carry a lot more fuel. It was the longest range airliner in the world before the A340-600.

The new 747s have more fuel efficient engines, can carry more fuel (and passengers), and are lighter empty so the 747 SP became obsolete.

What is the point of the Boeing 747 SP?
Having the same wing and engines as the 747-200, but beinh much shorter, the SP (Special Performance) was much lichter, which made is capable of flying faster, higher and travel much greater distances as compared to the other airliners at the time.

It is a very popular aircraft amongst some aviation enthousiast. It even has a website dedicated to it.

Reply:The Boeing 747 SP was made to serve markets that did not have adequate passenger flow to neccesitate the use of the larger 747.
Reply:to carry people... duh
Reply:It was the 747 GTi, shorter lighter fuselarge than the -200, yet the same engines, and wings which gave better rate of climb, and acceleration, although not top speed as this is mach limited and enabled a range of 8000 plus miles with passengers, however the later full length - 400 with more fuel efficient engines has now taken on the mantle of ultra long range 747 by flying London Sydey non stop, over 9000 miles
Reply:... BOEING 747 SP ............ means 'special purpose ', plane was designed for long range and for use of private use by different countries as state planes ........ later they found it was not that economical ............ but they are still in use by some countries in middle east ...............
Reply:It was a great version of the 747 taht catered for smaller passenger loads and better performance.
Reply:The point was to trade passenger capacity for fuel capacity to serve more distant markets non-stop.
Reply:The Boeing 747SP was an aircraft that was shorter than the 747 but was able to fly a farther range. The wingspan was the same length as the 747 but the tail was a little higher. The cruising speed was a little faster too. However the number of passengers that could be seated in the SP was fewer than the 747. I know that Pan Am used them a lot and when they sold their Pacific routes to Asia, United Airlines started using them. South African Airways also used them on long range routes.

Right now the 777 LR and the A340-500 both have super long range capabilities.
Reply:The 747SP is a shorter version of the 747-200/100. It also has a longer vertical tailfin and simplified flaps (1 piece as opposed to the other 747s triple slotted flaps) and was first offered to customers in 1974 to fill in the niche of ultra long haul (also known as lon-rang 'thin' routes) routes, at the expense of passenger capacity. It has been superseded by the 747-400 in 1989, and is no longer in production. It is very rare to see one in commercial use nowadays, though most are now for corporate, not commercial use (for example, as business jets).
Reply:The 747 SP is an outdated model that has been replaced with a more fuel efficient engine configuration. Do a Yahoo search on Boeing 747 SP and all your questions will be answered.
Reply:Here it is from Wikipedia:

The 747SP was a shortened version of the 747-100. It was introduced into service in 1976 with Pan AM. Apart from the upcoming 747-8 the SP is the only 747 with a modified length fuselage. It was designed to fly higher, faster, and longer than the 747-100. Boeing hoped that the abilities of the SP would compete and take orders from the Douglas DC-10 and create a niche market, however in the end only a total of 45 were built.

As at August 2006 a total of 13 Boeing 747SP aircraft were in airline service with South African Airways (1), Iran Air (1), Iraqi Airways (2), Kinshasa Airways (1), Palace Air (1), Saudi Arabian Airlines (1), Syrian Arab Airlines (2) and Transatlantic International Airlines (2).[21]

The sole remaining South African Airways 747SP - the "Maluti" - was decommissioned on 30 September 2006 with a final flight to Rand Airport where it will remain on show as a static display/museum aircraft. (This final transport flight was the aircraft's first flight in three years.)

Is it normal for a 5 year old to have trouble pronouncing Sp words?

My son just turned 5 years old. He will start kindergarten this year. Developmentally he's always been on the right track but he still hasn't gotten the grasp of the sp sound. For example, he'll say "fiderman" instead of spiderman, and "fongebob" instead of Spongebob. Everytime there's a word that involves sp it comes out as an f sound. I've tried getting him to slowly say ssss pppp but it just reverts back to the f sound, I've also had him try saying the words without the s "piderman" he says it for a couple times and then goes right back to the f sound.

Is this normal?

Is it normal for a 5 year old to have trouble pronouncing Sp words?
Yes this is quite common, even up until around 6 years of age. More often than not, this is common with children who are thumbsuckers. I'm not sure if yours is or not, but this could be part of the reason for the delay. Most times the problem arises from the child inserting their tongue between their teeth while speaking. Once he starts kindergarten he should grow out of this. Hearing other children around him will help tremendously. In some cases, a speech therapist will have to be consulted.
Reply:He's normal. He's still learning. L and TH are commonly mispronounced too.
Reply:Yes that is normal some kids do have a speech problem with certain words. Give it time he might grow out of it. If he doesn't and when he starts kindergarten and if he will say those words, and if the teacher hears him then they will have somebody to come in and test his speach. Then they will talk with the teacher then the teacher will talk with you, and probably give you ideas on how to help him. Good luck
Reply:i had a speach impediment when i was a child about his age.

i replaced the 's' sound such as in Cindy or seat with an 'sh' sound. i was put in a speach therapy class with 4 other children and a wonderful teacher. after one semester i was speaking correctly. to this day i don't remember ever speaking with the impediment. get him help early and it will be the best thing in the world you could do for him.
Reply:Yes, it's normal. He just turned 5. Blends (sp, bl, tr...etc) are the hardest to pronounce.
Reply:yeh jus give him some time and the more he uses the words that begin with sp the more he will learn how to use them, jus make sure u say them right when he is listening to u
Reply:Yes it's very normal my god daughter has the same problem . it's just a faze .
Reply:Yes..quite normal. Lots of kids do this. I remember when I was little I couldnt say things like Spaghetti...they came out like Pa-sketty.
Reply:dont worry. he will start progressing when he is in school. my son has been in speech therapy for 3 yrs. he is now 6. he still cant pronounce some words correctly. but all kids develop differently. it is probably age appropriate. call the school and ask if they do speech testing. its worth a shot to see if he is ok.
Reply:Yeah. Most little kids have trouble with the majority of the "s" combination sounds.

Work with him on it, get him to say it over again. Be patient. He'll get the hang of it.

What is the age limit to not mix sp. ed. children in same classroom?

I teach 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Sp. Ed. in CA. They are in the same room with each other. One of them is a boy of 14 yrs. and the 6th grader is 10. Is this legal?

What is the age limit to not mix sp. ed. children in same classroom?
I know in some cases children may be grouped by abililities or similar diagnoses or disorders. It is not always the case. but yes that is legal. I know I have seen rooms with 16 year olds and 10-or 11 year olds in them...it depends on your school, your district, and resources. If it wasn't legal, trust me a parent would have been ALL Over it by now ;) Your situation is similar to one of the programs at my school...It is difficult to cover material and teach lessons, but you will find a way! Good luck!
Reply:Yes, that's legal. All the schools that my child has been in have combined all the children that technically are in different grades. This is reasonable because there are typically so few that to spread resources out would be a huge waste and impact the ability to provide services.
Reply:Yes it is legal. Students in a special education class must be no more than four years apart in age, at least in my state. It may vary from state to state or school policies.
Reply:IN NJ it's three years, not three grades

I have a miller propane furnace sp-3 the end of the pilot tube is building up with black to the point it clogs

Does any one know what might cause this?

I have a miller propane furnace sp-3 the end of the pilot tube is building up with black to the point it clogs
The end of the pilot tubing should have a pilot hood.

Black is soot from lack of oxygen. Sounds like your pilot hood and orfice need to be cleaned.

Somebody that knows what there looking at should do this.

How do you get F-22 Raptor's SP Color on Ace Combat 6?

I've been asking questions about this, and people said that I should be able to find F-22's SP color on the 1st stage. But I've never seen it on the first stage.

How do you get F-22 Raptor's SP Color on Ace Combat 6?
To unlock any of the special colors you have to defeat enemy "named" or "Ace" aircraft, most only appear on the Expert and Ace difficulties.

For that particular color, you need to shoot down the pilot named "Pagas".

More info:

Your SP colors will come as you take out all of the named enemy aces. Your CFA-44 Nossy SP scheme will come when you have obtained 50 medals (all campaign and 15 service medals). Some say 44, but it wasn't until 50 for me.

Your Emmerian assault record for Garuda 1 will unlock when you have completed all Stovie records and you can finish your Stovie records by hunting down all of the named aces (which has to be done on expert or ace difficulty level, free mission is ok) and Strigon team.

By the way, in the description for #12, it doesn't say which mission I obtained it in. The description says," Following the death of Ilya Pasternak, he broke away from from his fellow team members and surrendered to to Emmeria. This may actually be related to beating Pasternak on a specific difficulty level, but I'm not sure. Stovie Records that you are missing and the corresponding mission.

12 - ? - It's an SU-33 and a Strigon team member. Focus on Strigon throughout the game, and you'll get it.

13 - Mission 1 - F-22 Pagas

14 - Mission 2 - F-16C Edinorog

15 - Mission 3 - Tornado GR.4 Drakon

21 - Mission 9 - SU-33 Feniks

22 - Mission 10 - Mirage 2000-S Oblako

25 - Mission 13 - F-14D Valet

26 - Mission 14 - F/A-18F Dama

27 - Mission 15 - F-4E Korol
