Whats the difference between LP, EP, & SP when it comes to DVD burning?

I want to burn a DVD, and I was wondering which I should pick?

Will any of them make the quality and sound better?

Any suggestions would be great!

Thank You.

Whats the difference between LP, EP, %26amp; SP when it comes to DVD burning?
In ranking those video qualities-

SP- best

LP

EP

The better the video quality, the higher the bit rate used in recording, meaning the video will take up more space (and you can't fit as much on one dvd as you could at a lower setting).

Usually the high quality settings will limit you to 1 or 2 hours of recording time on a regular DVD (not dual layer). The lower settings can get you 3-8 depending on what your model of DVD player offers.

Best thing to do is a test run... record/ burn a few minutes at each speed, and see what the different qualities look like to you on playback. Then you'll know if you go for a certain amount of time on each dvd what to expect on playback at those settings.
Reply:LP stands for long play , EP stands for extended play and SP stands for standard play. SP has the largest bit rate given the best quality video %26amp; audio , LP is slower with EP slower still. since you have only 4.5 gigs of space it depends on the size of your movie file.

Always use the highest bit rate if possible , Use SP your burner software should tell you if you have enough room or not and will probably ask you if you want to reduce it at that time.
Reply:lp=long play sp=short play ep=extended play
Reply:They are different speeds. For the best quality chose the slowest speed. But the slowest also gives you the least amount of time on the DVD. I think you can record up to 8 hours on one of the speeds and only 2 hours on the other. There should be something that explains the speeds with the DVD.
